Center of the Universe FM synth crash course!
6.th October 1600 Tvibit, konsertsalen
Most electronic musicians and producers know about synths and how to use them to make music. But be it softsynths or hardware, most synths are not FM synths, which is a type of synth that was popularised in the 80's and can be used to make a wide range of sounds. From electric pianos, weird basses, drums, FX, and a lot of new sounds that is hard to classify.
In this workshop we will talk about the theory and history of synths (and sounds in general), and after that we will play around to make sounds with FM synthesis. Then we will use those sounds to make some music!
Participants should bring headphones and either:
• A computer with software that could do FM (Ableton lives built in Operator, FL studio with Sytrus, Cubase/Reaper/etc that could run the free VST plugin dexed)
• A harware FM synth like Yamaha DX-series/reface, Korg Volca FM, Korg 707, Elektron Digitone etc.
This workshop is for everyone, from absolute beginners to the experienced musicians.
The workshop is free of charge, but participants need to sign up!
This FM synth crash course is part of the Cloud Exit project, supported by Talent Norge and Sparebank1 Nord Norge
