Join us and start creating your own manga story!
Have you ever wanted to create your own manga? In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn how manga is made, from the first idea and character design to building a short 4-page storyboard.

The workshop is led by Erlend Nordli, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Manga from Japan, the home of anime and manga! With knowledge from Japanese manga education and insights from professional artists, this is a great opportunity to learn how the industry works and develop your own storytelling skills.
During the workshop, you will explore:
• Character development
• Storytelling and plot structure
• Idea generation and creative exercises
• The step-by-step process of creating manga
Across 8 hours of workshop time, participants will create their own character and develop a 4-page manga storyboard. Both digital and traditional drawing methods are welcome, and there will be real manga materials available for you to try during the workshop.
Day 1 – Saturday May 2, 12:00-16:00
Learn about manga style and history, create your own character, explore story structure, and begin developing your manga idea and storyboard.
Day 2 – Sunday May 3, 12:00-16:00
Finish your storyboard, receive feedback and advice, and learn how to strengthen your storytelling and characters.
There will also be time to ask questions about studying manga in Japan and about the manga industry!
No prior experience is required.

Erlend Nordli is an enthusiastic manga artist from Northern Norway who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Manga from Kyoto Seika University, where he focused on the new generation of manga. During the university’s 50th anniversary, he was selected to represent international students and share how manga transformed his life and led him to pursue his dream of becoming a manga artist.
