Tromsø Game Jam 2026
Calling all creatives – it´s time to unleash your creative potential and join in for a weekend of fun developing games at the Tromsø Game Jam 2026!
Tvibit is excited to be working in collaboration with the Tromsø Game Lab@UiT for the event and bringing mentors Sebastian Mangseth and Meeka Elliot from Team Tooth – the winners of 2023 NM in Gameplay in Gameplay to guide our jammers through their creative process. Tooth Games has recently exhibited the game 'Tiny Conservators' at Munch Museum in Oslo and have been touring with DKS where they made over 800 games with the youth of Norway! Cris Kevin from the Kreativ Teknologi team will also present some nifty A.I tools that are used in game development that can speed up your creative process!
Tromsø Game Jam 2026 will be held at UiT from the 30th of January-1st of February as part of the worldwide Global Game Jam movement and representing the amazing community of coders, artists, designers and creatives of all types living in these parts of the Arctic!
No experience is necessary, but participants must be at least 15 years old and up! Just bring your own computers/laptops, a vivid imagination and a passion to learn, collaborate and create games!

Details on Tromsø Game Jam 2026 (GGJ26)
30th Jan, kl 17:00: Kickoff at UiT (Realfagbygget, IFI)
Kicking it off with a quick intro to what to expect from Tromsø Game Jam 2026, hosted in collaboration between Tvibitand Tromsø Game Lab @ UiT. This year you’ll have mentors Sebastian Mangseth and Meeka Elliot from Team Tooth on site, and Cris Kevin (Kreativ Teknologi) will also present useful A.I. tools for game development to help speed up your creative process.
Dates & place
Tromsø Game Jam 2026 runs Friday 30 January (17:00) → Sunday 1 February (19:00) at UiT – Realfagbygget, IFI, Hansine Hansens vei 54, 9019 Tromsø. It’s in-person only.
The Jam (30th Jan – 1st Feb)
Once ideas are rolling and teams form, jammers work through the weekend to bring their games to life with mentors available on site. The jam site is listed as open for the entire 48 hours, so teams can keep building throughout the full jam period.
Food
Meals are provided on site, including pizza, plus drinks and snacks.

The site is open for the entire 48 hours, and the event runs until Sunday 19:00.

Who can participate: Anyone (no experience needed), but age limit is 15+.
Capacity & cost: Max 50 participants, free entrance.
Languages: Norwegian Bokmål, Northern Sami, and English.
Available equipment: 3 Windows desktop PCs with NVIDIA 4080 GPUs, set up with Unreal Engine 5, Godot, Unity, Blender, and ComfyUI AI tools.
Facilities highlights: 24-hour security, alcohol-free spaces, gender-neutral toilets, and a quiet space away from the main jam area.
